Laowa 24mm f/14 2x Macro Probe — Canon EF
Go where other lenses can’t !
Overview
Described as “weird but genius,” the Laowa 24mm f/14 2x Macro Probe is a truly unique close-up lens. Its long, slender tube reaches into tight spaces and delivers a dramatic bug-eye wide-angle perspective. You can shoot at greater-than-life-size 2:1 magnification, focus as close as 1.5' (47 cm), and still maintain a working distance of just 0.8" (≈2 cm) at the tip—keeping the camera body at a comfortable distance.
Compared to telephoto macro designs, the 24mm focal length yields greater depth of field and more environmental context around your subject. The optical formula employs two Extra-Low Dispersion elements and one Extra Refractive Index element for clarity, color accuracy, and sharpness. A built-in LED ring light (powered via micro-USB) aids close focusing, while the waterproof front barrel lets you work just below the surface of water or in dusty/trying environments.
Designed for full-frame Canon EF cameras (and usable on APS-C with a ~38.4mm equivalent view), this lens features manual focus and a manual aperture ring with a seven-blade diaphragm.

Pro Tips
- At f/14–f/40, add plenty of light. Use the built-in LEDs plus external sources to keep ISO low.
- For ultra-steady close-ups, mount on a macro focusing rail or slider to fine-tune distance.
- Exploit the 0.8" working distance for “slide-in” reveals; flag stray reflections at the tip.
- Leverage the waterproof front for partial-submersion shots; dry the tip thoroughly after use.
- On APS-C bodies (~38.4mm view), expect a tighter frame with similar depth-of-field benefits.
