Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Camera (Body Only)
24.5MP Full-Frame Mirrorless — 4K UHD Video, 14 fps, 5-Axis In-Body VR
Overview
A true multimedia workhorse, the Nikon Z6 II is an updated, all-around full-frame mirrorless camera designed for demanding photo and video workflows. It builds on the strengths of the original Z6 by adding more speed, improved processing, and greater versatility, while maintaining its acclaimed image quality and familiar Z-series ergonomics.
At its core, the Z6 II features a 24.5MP FX-format BSI CMOS sensor paired with dual EXPEED 6 image processors, enabling up to 14 fps continuous shooting, UHD 4K video recording, and excellent low-light performance with a native ISO range of 100–51,200 (expandable to 50–204,800).
Key Features
24.5MP FX-Format BSI CMOS Sensor
Back-illuminated full-frame sensor optimized for low-light performance and wide dynamic range.
Dual EXPEED 6 Image Processors
Faster overall processing, improved buffer performance, and up to 14 fps continuous shooting.
UHD 4K30 Video, N-Log & 10-Bit HDMI
UHD 4K up to 30p (and up to 60p via firmware) with N-Log, HLG, and 10-bit 4:2:2 output over HDMI.
14 fps Continuous Shooting
High-speed shooting at up to 14 fps at full resolution for up to 124 consecutive frames.
273-Point Phase-Detect AF System
On-sensor phase detection with 273 points covering ~90% of the frame, with eye and face detection for humans and animals.
3.6m-Dot OLED EVF
High-resolution 0.5" OLED electronic viewfinder with 0.8x magnification and 100% coverage.
3.2" Tilting Touchscreen LCD
2.1m-dot tilting touchscreen LCD for intuitive control and flexible viewing angles.
5-Axis In-Body Vibration Reduction
Sensor-shift VR compensates for up to 5 stops of camera shake for stills and video.
Dual Memory Card Slots
One CFexpress Type B/XQD slot and one SD UHS-II slot for flexible overflow, backup, or segregated storage.
24.5MP FX-Format BSI CMOS Sensor & Dual EXPEED 6 Processors
The 24.5MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor delivers clean, low-noise imagery across a wide sensitivity range. Its BSI design enhances light-gathering efficiency for improved performance at high ISOs and rich color rendition at lower sensitivities.
Dual EXPEED 6 processors provide the speed needed for 14 fps burst shooting, 4K video, and responsive operation. This processing power also enables deeper buffer performance and smoother EVF and LCD live view experiences.
UHD 4K Video Recording
The Z6 II is a highly capable video camera, supporting UHD 4K recording with full pixel readout at up to 30p and Full HD 1080p at up to 120p for slow-motion playback. Footage can be recorded internally or output via HDMI to an external recorder.
Advanced video features include N-Log and HLG (HDR) profiles, 10-bit 4:2:2 output over HDMI, Electronic VR for smoother handheld video, Focus Peaking for manual focus, and Zebra patterns for exposure monitoring. Audio can be captured via the built-in stereo mic or through an external mic using the 3.5 mm input, with real-time monitoring via the headphone jack.
Firmware updates unlock UHD 4K 60p and support raw video output (including ProRes RAW via optional upgrade) to compatible external recorders, expanding the Z6 II’s capabilities for professional video workflows.
273-Point Phase-Detect AF & 5-Axis Vibration Reduction
An on-sensor AF system with 273 phase-detect points covers approximately 90% of the frame, allowing confident subject tracking nearly to the edges. Hybrid AF in video smoothly switches between phase- and contrast-detection for natural, accurate focus transitions.
The in-body 5-axis sensor-shift VR system compensates for up to 5 stops of camera shake with NIKKOR Z lenses and up to 3 axes with adapted F-mount lenses via the optional FTZ adapter. This stabilization benefits both low-light stills and handheld video.
Body Design & Connectivity
The Z6 II features a 3.2" 2.1m-dot tilting touchscreen LCD for intuitive control and flexible shooting angles, along with a 3.69m-dot OLED EVF with 0.8x magnification for detailed eye-level viewing. A top-panel dot-matrix OLED status display provides quick access to critical settings.
The rugged magnesium alloy body is dust- and weather-resistant, designed for dependable use in challenging environments. The deep grip, anti-slip materials, and joystick controller contribute to comfortable handling and fast AF point selection during extended shoots.
Built-in SnapBridge connectivity (Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2) supports wireless transfer, remote control, and firmware updates via Android/iOS devices. Connectivity options include USB-C (power & data), Mini-HDMI, 3.5 mm headphone and mic ports, and a Nikon DC2 terminal for remote accessories.
