Overview

The Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Di III VXD Macro is a short telephoto prime lens designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. Combining a versatile 90mm focal length with 1:1 life-size magnification and a minimum focusing distance of just 9.1" / 23.1 cm, it excels at shooting small subjects and fine details while also delivering beautiful portrait and product imagery.

Its bright f/2.8 maximum aperture and 12-blade circular diaphragm render smooth, round bokeh and attractive 12-ray starbursts around point light sources. Focusing is driven by Tamron’s VXD linear motor, which offers fast, quiet, and precise autofocus for both stills and video, while the focus ring is calibrated for accurate, responsive manual focus—especially important for critical macro work.

Advanced BBAR-G2 and fluorine coatings help suppress flare and ghosting and protect the front element from moisture and oils, and the lens’s moisture-resistant construction lets you shoot with confidence in challenging outdoor conditions. A focus limiter switch and customizable Focus Set button (via Tamron Lens Utility software) provide enhanced control, and the specially designed hood with a sliding filter window makes it easy to adjust filters without removing the hood.

Customizable Focus Set Button

Assign functions to the Focus Set button using the Tamron Lens Utility software—such as recalling preset focus positions or toggling specific features.

BBAR-G2 & Fluorine Coatings

BBAR-G2 coating minimizes flare and ghosting for greater contrast, while a fluorine coating on the front element repels water and oil for easier cleaning.

Moisture-Resistant Construction
